Supporting Post-Rock bands, one at a time - with a smile :)

A BIT ABOUT US

After speaking to a couple of bands towards the end of 2010, I realised that I may be able to help small and yet unknown bands with their plans. As most bands don’t start with a bang or a big budget, it can be difficult for them to get onto a label. Although there are a few labels out there that really dig Post Rock, they of course can’t take every band on. That’s where I hope to help. Having been in the business for a while, I have managed to gain quite a network of people, from labels, distributors, shops, pressing plants etc. Using that network, I hope to help bands get a “foot in the door”.

CURRENT PROJECT

The album being worked on right now is the latest and last album by Belgian Art/Noise/Post Rockers, L.T.D.M.S.. A physical and digital release, the album will be available on 18th May 2012.

OXIDE004 Circadian Eyes Who We Were Front CD Cover

Circadian Eyes - Who We Were

Brian, the man behiond the Circadian Eyes moniker, was looking for a label to support him with a limited run of CDs and digital distribution. His music is a unique blend of Post Rock and electronica, and apart from writing the music, he also took care of mastering himself.

The artwork was completed in a collaborative fashion: Brian provided the images, and we took care of getting them into format, and then of course printed.

OXIDE002 Until Sunrise Until Sunrise CD Front Cover

Until Sunrise - Until Sunrise

Until Sunrise are a young band. Very young. They hooked up in March 2010, and made some music. And for the fun of it, they made it public. Their debut, the self titled album, recorded in an extremely lo-fi manner, caused wavesd through out the genre. Who were these guys, where are they from, and is the drummer seriously 13 years old??

The guys were looking for a label to re-release the album, this time physically. The album was re-mastered, and was then put to CD.

OXIDE006 The Eternal Twilight Everything Resembles You Front CD Cover

The Eternal Twilight - Everything Resembles You

Joining the many artists focussing on the softer ambient side of Post Rock, The Eternal Twilight have created an album of dreaminess and hope. Titled "Everything Resembles You", it provides a perfect sonar background for those moments of thoughtfulness and tranquility, without missing the aspects of the genre that fans have come to await.

Noor and Abbas wanted a label that understands them and their vibe, for a very limited CD run.

OXIDE008 Time Columns Mana - No Front CD Cover

Time Columns - Mana

Math Rock is a blend of Post Rock that used complex structures and atypical time signatures. And exactly that is what Time Columns excels at. When you're listening to their music, it's hard to believe that the band is made up of 2 people.

Kenny and Jordan wanted a jewel case packaging for this release, their first album, after having released 3 EPs digitally in the past.

This Patch of Sky - The Immortal, The Invisible

A new and fresh band out of Oregon, USA, This Patch of Sky adds an edge of hardness to Post Rock. What started out as a work of passion for the 4 guys had mutated into something bigger, fans were popping up across the globe, and the band realised that what they had to say had found an audience.

OXIDE010 The Circle Project - Section1: elektronik - CD Cover

The Circle Project - Section1: elektronik

So I have been carrying an idea around with me since last year… it’s time for it to be let out of the depths of my mind, and aired for you all to hear: The Circle Project.

Rather than do a standard remix album or a CD full of covers, the concept is to create a closed circle of remixes. Artist A reinterprets Artist B, Artist B does Artist C, and Artist C does Artist A, thus creating a circle. The tracks are selected by the label rather than the bands, solely with the intention of creating a full concept of an album or EP, rather than a random set of tracks

OXIDE015 Tsuru - The Maritime Theory CD Cover

Tsuru - The Maritime Theory

Tsuru are a bunch of friends from California. They've been making music for three years, and were ready to release their first album, titled The Maritime Theory. Not having a huge fan base as they had pretty much been under the radar, they wanted someone to trake care of the distribution, so that they can concentrate on the music.

OXIDE011_Tunturia_Invisible_City_CD_Cover

Invisible City has been complete for a while, however the guys behind Tunturia hadn't been able to find a label to partner with to release it in the manner they preferred. OXIDE016_Canyons_of_Static_Farewell_Shadows_CD_Cover

Canyons of Static - Farewell Shadows

Canyons of Static are experienced within the Post Rock scene. They have multiple releases under their belt, and I've been a fan for a long time. As such, it was an honour that they asked me to publish their new album, which really reflects how they have grown over the past 6 years. Not easily pleased with complete albums, Farewell Shadows is an album that I can only call "complete". It covers every aspect of the genre that you could think of, and after having listened to it for months, I am 100% sure that this will be on of the top albums in 2012.

The band was looking for someone to help with physical and digital distribution, but not just a label, someone who belived in them and their music.

OXIDE018 - Jet Plane - All The Static Stars CD Cover

Jet Plane - All The Static Stars

After receiving great feedback for releasing this album digitally, the band decided they wanted to have it available physically too.

An amazing blend of Post Rock crescendos, haunting strings and dramatic melodies, the album is really too good for a debut. The Russian band excelled when writing this music!

OXIDE021_eaststrikewest_we_are_important_CD_Cover

eaststrikewest - We’re Important And We Keep The City Running. We're Important. We're Important. We're Important.

The end of the road for the band, this album almost didn't make it to the light of day. The band unforunately split during the recording phase in the studio.

Deemed too good to not be heard by the general public, this heady mix of lofty ambition, anxiety and sharply honed creativity serves as a befitting eulogy to the band that was eaststrikewest

You need Post Rock - we have it in the store!

All of the Oxide Tones stock

More than just a label

Oxide Tones actually started its existence as an online store. Tired of paying exortionate prices from high street sellers for obscure music, we started importing music from Canada, USA, Japan and even Mexico, with the intention of ensuring that fans could get their music fix at a reasonable price. That was late 2004, and since then we've built up a solid fan base, and we're always on the lookout for music that we want to get in stock.
